PREP

Proper preparation helps ensure the best results and the most comfortable sugar waxing experience. For best results, hair should be about ¼ inch long (roughly the length of a grain of rice). Gently exfoliate the area 2 days before to remove dead skin and help prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid exfoliating the day before or the day of sugaring, as freshly exfoliated skin can be more sensitive. On the day of sugaring, make sure your skin is clean, dry, and free of oils, lotions, or deodorants. Additionally, apply a powder to absorb any moisture in the skin. This allows the sugar wax to properly adhere to the hair rather than the skin, making removal more effective and comfortable.

LEGS

Start with clean, dry skin that’s free of oils and lotions. If needed lightly dust the area with powder to absorb moisture and help the sugar wax grip the hair. Start by removing a small ball of sugar wax from the container. If the sugar feels firm to remove, place the jar it in the microwave in 5-second intervals. The sugar should be soft and pliable, not hot! Once warmed, knead the sugar wax between your fingers until it becomes smooth, stretchy, and a light golden color. This helps activate the wax and improves performance. Form the wax into a ball. Working in small sections, apply the sugar wax against the direction of hair growth, moulding it firmly into the skin 3 times. Hold the skin taut, then quickly flick the sugar wax in the direction of hair growth, keeping your hand close and parallel to the skin. Continue section by section, reworking and kneading the sugar wax as needed. If the wax becomes too soft or sticky, take a short break or cool the skin before continuing. After sugaring, gently rinse away any residue with warm water. Finish by applying a fragrance-free moisturizer to calm the skin.

UNDERARMS

Start with clean, dry skin that’s free of oils, lotions, or deodorant. Underarms can hold moisture easily, so lightly dust the area with powder to absorb sweat and help the sugar wax grip the hair. Remove a small ball of sugar wax from the container. If the sugar feels firm, warm it in the microwave in 5-second intervals. The sugar should be soft and pliable, not hot! Once warmed, knead the sugar wax between your fingers until it becomes smooth, stretchy, and a light golden color. Kneading helps activate the sugar and improves control. Form the wax into a bowl. Working in very small sections, apply the sugar wax against the direction of hair growth, moulding it firmly into the skin 3 times. Underarm hair often grows in multiple directions, so pay close attention to growth patterns. Hold the skin taut by lifting the arm and gently stretching the skin, then quickly flick the sugar wax in the direction of hair growth, keeping your hand close and parallel to the skin. Rework and knead the sugar wax as needed. If it becomes too soft or sticky, pause and allow the skin to cool before continuing. The underarm is a difficult area to master so have a cloth with warm water on hand incase you need to wipe your hands/underarm area if the wax becomes too difficult to manage. After sugaring, rinse away any residue with warm water and apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer. Avoid deodorant, heavy sweating, workouts, and heat for 24 hours after sugaring to help prevent irritation.

BIKINI LINE

Start with clean, dry skin, free of oils, lotions, or creams. The bikini area can trap moisture, so lightly dust the skin with powder to absorb any sweat and help the sugar wax grip the hair properly. Remove a ball of sugar wax from the container. If the sugar feels too firm to grab, warm it in the microwave in 5-second intervals until it becomes soft and pliable, never hot. Once warmed, knead the sugar wax. Form the wax into a small ball. Apply the sugar wax against the direction of hair growth, firmly molding it into the skin about 3 times to ensure it grips the hair. Bikini hair can be coarse and may grow in different directions, so take a moment to observe your growth pattern before applying. Hold the skin taut with your free hand. Quickly flick the sugar wax in the direction of hair growth, keeping your hand close and parallel to the skin. Avoid pulling upward, stay low and close to the skin for best results and comfort. Rework and knead the sugar wax as needed between flicks. If it becomes too soft or sticky, pause and allow the skin to cool before continuing. Keep a cloth with warm water nearby in case you need to wipe your hands or the area if the sugar becomes difficult to manage. After sugaring, rinse away any residue with warm water and apply an unscented moisturizer. Avoid tight clothing, workouts, heat, swimming, and intimacy for 24 hours to help prevent irritation and ingrown hairs.
